Ultimate DOs and DON'Ts in the world of Fashion

By

About this blog

You know those sections in magazines devoted to fashion DOs and DON'Ts? Well, this is a blog about the most important ones.

Now what was a big DO 'back then' might be a big DON'T now. So I'm only paying attention to the recent trends.

Credits and sources at the bottom.

Your DOs or DON'Ts

Are you confident that you dress in DOs or are you guilty of repeating DON'Ts?

  • I love fashion and DOs are what I wear
  • I don't care about fashion so my style's a DON'T

DOs

• You can wear nude heels with any outfit

• Stripes!! Enough said.

• There's some debate about jeans and pants. Some people like some kind of jeans that a lot of other people might not like or think 'fashionable'. But you can never go wrong with white pants or white jeans. No matter who you are, I bet you like them.

• Animal prints. Mainly zebra prints are in but cheetah and giraffe prints are in as well. For a while this trend wasn't considered in because it was such a loved and popular trend for so long. But now it's back so indulge in whatever animal print you would like.

• As much as I don't like it, 70s style is coming back big time. But Alloy.com has really cute 70s style clothing. So if I was to wear some 70s clothing, that would be where I went to buy them at.

• Anything floral is extremely in this season but the thing with floral is they're never really out. They've always been fashionable and probably always will be.

• You can't go wrong with necklaces. Crazy, big, shiny, bold. Anything goes when it comes to necklaces, especially this season.

• Sunglasses of ALL shapes, sizes and colors.

• Go as girly as you want. Pink galore, it's all right.

• Gold, especially rose golds.

• Booties. They're cute, more comfortable that heels and you can't easily go wrong with them.

• Shirt Dresses. Put a cute belt on and you're good to go.

• Polka dots. A very classic and cute pattern.

• Tuxedo vests.

• Nude, deep and bright colorful lips. So . . . basically lip color in general.

• Blue jean everything. Pants (obviously), shirts, jackets, vests, skirts and dresses.

• Flowy, ruffled tops. Even better, flowy and ruffled tops with lace, too.

• Speeking of lace, layer the heck out of lace. The more layers, the better.

• Bows. On tops, dresses, skirts or shoes. Wherever you put them, even in your hair, they're going to look adorable.

• Brights yellows say 'Hello!!' You'll attract attention from everyone, the good kind of attention that is.

• Dangly earrings. I can't remember a time when they weren't in style (even centuries ago).

• Maxi dresses and skirts.

• A pretty bronze tan. But be careful, You stay too long in the tanning beds or get too strong of a spray tan and it could turn ugly . . . literally.

• Funky colored nail polishes.

• Soft colored sparkles.

• Soft hair highlights.

• Sweet sundresses. (one of my favorite trends ever)

• Wedges. Enough said.

• Short shorts. But be careful; showing butt cheeks means they're WAY too short.

• Skinny jeans (of course). Specifically cargo skinny pants.

• Jeggings, a wonderful invention.

• Hair jewelry. Clips, fancy hairbands, jeweled Bobby pins and decorative hair ties.

• BIG totes.

• CORAL, CORAL, CORAL. Can't say it enough.

• A leather jacket is something every girl should have in their closet.

• Creative and funky sandals and flip flops.

• Fashion boots. the perfect casual shoes without hitting the tennis shoes.

• Utility jackets. Pair it with some skinny jeans and a cute but casual shirt and any shoes you want and you're got a perfect outfit.

• Loafers. Cute and casual.

• Crop tops. Man, I love those tops.

• Pile on those bracelets. Don't worry, the more the merrier.

DON'Ts

• Orange tans. Spray tans and bed tanning too much can result in some ugly skin coloring. Kick it a little more natural by laying out or using a self tanning lotion every once and a while.

• Obvious roots. Keep those roots dyed. Having all your hair one color and your roots another is definitely a DON'T.

• Being too skinny. I know that everyone wants to be a bikini model but there's a fine line between looking good and starving yourself. I think it's safe to say that having a little meat on the bones is very attractive.

• Fur!! A little fur is cute if it's a low dose. But too much is not a DO like it was i the 40s.

• Color blocking is really big right now, but just don't take it too far. It's a very easy trend to overdo.

• Socks and sandals!! You would think this is a very obvious fashion DON'T but you still see it. Why?

• Wearing stockings with shorts. It's just not pretty.

• Slutty cut outs. 'Cold shoulders' and a little cut out from the back is really cute. But Cutting areas out that should be left a lone; not a smart thing to do for anyone.

• Pantie lines, pantie lines. That's something we should all work hard to avoid. But please, for the sake of everyone, don't just not wear underwear.

• Making the eyebrows just a little too crazy. Drawing your eyebrows in is very normal. I do it every single time I wear makeup. But getting creative and going overboard should stay in the house.

• Rainbow socks. I love to wear them around the house but they're a massive no for out and about.

• Super spiked hair. If you're a guy, then a little hair gel is cute. But going crazy with it, making yourself look like a porcupine; a massive turn off.

• Letting your thongs show. They're called underwear for a reason. If you let them peep out of your jeans, then that's showing disrespect towards yourself.

• Too much blush. You know those old women that look like they spent their entire life savings on the blush they're wearing? Be careful with how much your put on if you want to avoid looking like them.

• Platform shoes are cute. But too high of a platform shoes can be dangerous, both fashionably and physically.

• Letting your nipples show. I know at one time they were considered 'sexy'. But now, they're just considered slutty.

• Clear belts. It's not that big of a deal, but it would be smart to avoid them.

• Wearing red and pink together. There's only one exception to this DON'T, and that's when they're both in included in a floral design.

• Whatever you wear, make sure your butt cheeks are not showing.

• Basically anything Lady Gaga wears is a no. I love Lady Gaga but she's the only one who can pull off the things she wears.

• The biggest fashion DON'T is wearing something just because it's in. Wear whatever you would like to wear. Fashion is fashionable because the people like it. And you're a part of the people so make the fashion you like fashionable.
